A Marvelous Masquerade Concert

On October 22nd, Wayland High School hosted its annual Masquerade Concert, bringing together all middle school and high school orchestras to perform for family members, teachers, students and community members.

The event featured the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade middle school orchestras, as well as the high school’s String Orchestra and Honors Sinfonia Orchestra. The middle school musicians performed under the direction of conductor Whitney Tandon, while Susan Memoli, Wayland’s Director of Fine Arts, conducted the high school ensembles.

It was a treat to see all of the performers decked out in spooky, spectacular costumes! Along with amazing music—including a rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”—there were raffles, costume contests and interactive audience games.

MMEA Eastern District Senior Festival Auditions

WHS has 53 students auditioning for the Eastern District MA Music Educators Senior Festival this Saturday at Concord-Carlisle.  Judges will rate students based on their performance of prepared solo repertoire, scales, and sight-reading examples.  Selected students will join students from across the MA Eastern region, under professional conductors, to prepare and perform at Boston Latin in early January 2027.

Best wishes to those who have prepared and will represent Wayland High School.

Seal of Biliteracy Test in Home Languages

If your student speaks and writes a language other than English at home, they should take the Seal of Biliteracy test!  Tests are available in dozens of languages, and results are combined with English MCAS scores to measure that a student is bilingual and biliterate.  Most students test their junior or senior year.  Please send any questions to World Language Department Head Alaina Ghetti at alaina_ghetti@waylandps.org and sign up with the QR code below by December 1, 2026.

Information from the Health Office

Wayland High School is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all students, especially those with life-threatening allergies or asthma.
Students who require EpiPens or asthma inhalers should carry their own medication at all times to ensure immediate access to treatment. A backup EpiPen or inhaler may be stored in the Health Office if desired.
In order for students to carry and self-administer their medications, we must have a current physician’s order and/or Emergency Action Plan (e.g., Emergency Health Care Plan for EpiPen administration or Asthma Action Plan), as well as parental authorization. These forms must be updated each school year and are available on the Wayland Public Schools website or from the Health Office.
Please note:
  • Students and/or parents/guardians are responsible for checking the EpiPen or inhaler for expiration and proper function.
  • Students with life-threatening allergies or asthma must bring their rescue medications on all field trips and after-school activities (clubs, athletics)
  • If you need assistance obtaining an auto-injector or inhaler, please contact our office.
Completed forms should be returned to the WHS Health Office as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact us at 508-358-3712.  Thank you for partnering with us to keep your child safe and prepared.
