WHS Friday Message

From Principal Allyson Mizoguchi

April 11, 2026
Next Tuesday, we are honored to welcome Holocaust survivor and speaker Kati Preston to WHS. Ms. Preston will share with all students and staff her powerful story of surviving the terrors of World War II in Nazi-occupied Hungary. “Her message of hope and conquering hateful acts with love and kindness is a message for all of humanity” (website). Students will have an opportunity to preview and discuss her visit in Advisory sessions. Special thanks to senior Max Burgess, Social Studies Department Head Mr. Dave Schmirer, and members of our Jewish Student Union for organizing this important event.

Honor Society Update

As has been announced to the community, we have been reviewing our membership with the National Honor Society (NHS) while developing a new “WHS honor society” that deepens our students’ service and leadership experiences. A group of dedicated juniors joined me and Ms. Aimee Lima (NHS advisor) to present at the School Committee two weeks ago, and we subsequently sent this letter to all juniors and their families. More updates are forthcoming as we launch our new honor society while maintaining a WHS chapter of NHS.

Congratulations & Gratitude

  • Thank you to art teacher Ms. Veronique Latimer and the students and staff who created portraits of children in Cambodia as part of the Memory Project, a beautiful organization linking student artists across the world to children growing up in challenging circumstances. Linked here is the touching and joyful video of the children in Cambodia receiving their portraits this year. Read more about the Memory Project and our student and staff artists in this WSPN article.

  • Congratulations to the cast and crew of “To Parents and Other Neighbors” who had the honor of performing in the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild State Finals on March 27!

  • Kudos to the WHS students in the Future Business Leaders of America who recently represented our school at the State Leadership Conference at Bentley University. Special recognition to these students who qualified to compete at the National Leadership Conference in June: Arya Nagall, Simon Nikitenko, Ben Migdalen, Mustafa Kheir, Ryan Young, Will Lugo, and James Morris.
