Today we administered the MetroWest Adolescent Health Survey to all WHS students. Thank you to all staff and students for their cooperation with this effort! The MWAHS survey, which we have administered since its inception in 2006, has given us robust longitudinal and comparative data related to many behavioral and health aspects of our students’ lives. To get a sense of the extensive information we glean,
here is the full data report from the last time we administered the survey in 2023. We will analyze initial results this spring and begin to share take-aways and themes with the community in the early fall. These themes will guide our curriculum, programming, and student supports.
First Quarter Grades
Grades from first quarter are now finalized in PowerSchool. To view and print report Q1 cards, click on “Student Reports” on the left-hand side of the main page in PowerSchool; then, click on “High School Report Card Q1.” We recommend that you save and/or print for your own records.
Attendance Updates
As you know, we are implementing a new policy this year where student attendance is tied to course credits earned. We would like to thank students and families for their increased communication about attendance matters, and encourage them to contact WHS administration or their counselors with any concerns or questions that arise. Some families are wondering what constitutes an “excused” versus an “unexcused” absence. Excused absences are defined by
School Committee policy as illness; bereavement; religious observance; and field trips. While absences that fall into these categories are excused, they do count towards the total number of absences in a term. As a reminder, our new policy is on page 20 in the
Student Handbook.
