Boston Symphony Orchestra Open Rehearsal

Many Wayland Orchestra students in grade 8-12 attended the Boston Symphony Orchestra's Open Rehearsal on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Thanks to a generous grant, 70 students were immersed in the Toru Takemitsu Requiem for strings, the Dvorak Violin Concerto in A minor with Midori soloing, and Dvorak Symphony No. 7 under the baton of Nodoka Okisawa.

Wayland resident members of the BSO, Cathy Basrak, Steve Lange, Jim Markey, and Cindy Meyers, came out during intermission to meet the students.

Senior District Festival Auditions

Senior District Festival auditions were held at Concord-Carlisle High School on November 1. Wayland had 21 students selected from the most competitive pool ever of over 1100 auditionees. The following students earned a place in the Band, Orchestra, Chorus or Jazz Band. They will join together with students from the Eastern MA geographic district January 9 and 10, 2026 to rehearse and perform in concert.

Students who scored in the top 50% of their section also earned a recommendation to audition for the MA All-State festival (indicated with *).

Please join us in congratulating all of these students on this outstanding accomplishment!
